Ramkumar Ramanathan, alongside, partner Brayden Schnur lost in the round of 64 match of the Busan Challenger, South Korea, against Taiwan-Indonesian pair of Christopher Rungkat and Hsieh Cheng-peng. Sumit Nagal lost in straight sets to USA’s Ulises Blanch in the Rome Challengers.

After going toe to toe for five straight games, the Indo-Canadian pair was eventually broken in their sixth and eighth game as they lost the first set 6-2. Ramanathan and Schnur were expected to come back stronger in the second set and they did exactly that by breaking Rungkat/Cheng-peng in the very first game.

However, their lead would last only seven games as they were broken by the Taiwan-Indonesian pair in the eighth and tenth game to lose the second set and by extension, the match.

Sumit Nagal was playing USA’s U Blanch in the 1/32 finals of Rome Challengers in the other game, and playing a higher-ranked opponent meant that the Indian wasn’t the favourite approaching the match. And the match panned out exactly that way with Blanch breaking Nagal in the very first game of the first set. Nagal also got broken in the seventh game to lose it 6-2.

While many expected Nagal to show some urgency in the second set, he went on to lose the first and third game before he broke Blanch twice as well. The parity stays on till the eleventh game before Blanch got the better of Nagal yet again to lose it 7-5.
