Dutch Junior Open | Anahat Singh, Neel Joshi clinch titles

India’s Anahat Singh has bagged the girls’ under 13 trophy at the Dutch Junior Open squash tournament in Amsterdam on Sunday. Among the Indian boys, youngster Neel Joshi won the final in the under-17 category finale while Paarth Ambani finished runners-up in the under 15 competitions.

Anahat, who had won the British Junior Open earlier, was up against France’s Lauren Baltayan in the final battle. Anahat took a two-game lead in the first two but failed to maintain that in the next consecutive games those were won by the French squash player. However, the Indian came back strong in the decider to win the final 11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 7-11, 11-8 of the under 13 junior girls event.

In the boys’ under 15 category, Joshi had a terrible start to his game as he lost the first game against Hassan Khalil of England in the final. After going down 10-12 in the first game, the Indian bounced back strong to clinch the title. He won the final 10-12, 12-10, 11-4, 11-6 in Amsterdam.

Ambani, who was the third Indian in the final of the junior tournament, on the other hand, lost the summit clash. He ended up with the runners-up trophy after getting beaten by Rowan Damming of Netherlands.
