Maharashtra’s Rohit Kadam got the better of Saurabh Kumar from Uttar Pradesh in an exciting game to qualify for the men’s top eight at the GSC-All India Squash Open. Top seed Abhishek Pradhan, Aishwary Singh, Abhishek Agarwal, Anuj Unadkat and Mahul Kumar, have also qualified for the quarters.
Rohit Kadam had a strong lead of 2-0 at one stage but Saurabh Kumar ensured a brilliant comeback in the pre-quarterfinal game. However, that was not enough to ensure a win for Saurabh as the Maharashtra squash player won the match 11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6 at the Goregaon Sports Club.
In another match in the top 16 round, Deepak Tiwari and second seed Abhishek Agarwal were involved in another nail-biting battle. Agarwal remained firm till the end of the match and won against Tiwari by 11-8, 11-9, 11-8. On the other hand, after losing the first game, Aishwary Singh came hard at Pradeep Amar Singh to register a 5-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-6 win to book a place in the last eight.
