India’s Sheeraz Sheikh managed to hit 50 out of 50 in the men’s skeet competition as he led the list jointly having as many as 84 shotgun shooters vying to win the World Cup in South Korea’s Changwon. In women’s skeet, Ganemat Shekhon ended the qualification round in the 21st spot.

The ongoing World Cup is having two Tokyo 2020 Olympic quota places on offer apart from the medals and India’s Sheeraz Sheikh and Mairaj Ahmad Khan are going all out for it. While Sheikh finished top of the field alongside Kuwait, Argentina and Norway, Khan had to pull out of the competition due to poor health.

However, he had shot 49 prior to that to comfortably finish the day in the seventh position and with three qualification rounds to play on Saturday, he has a shot in finishing in the top six. Apart from Khan, Angad Bajwa also had to pull out owing to health issues.

In women’s skeet, young Shekhon scored 115 out of a maximum 125 to finish her qualification campaign in 21st spot. The girl from Chandigarh had won in the ISSF Junior World Cup, Sydney, last year and looked confident at the start of the day with that saw her having an opportunity to get into her first senior ISSF final after she shot 72 out of 75 on Thursday. But, she had rounds of 22 and 21 to fall short as the sixth final spot went on a score of 119.
