Kumar Surendra Singh Shooting | Shriyanka Sadangi, Gauri Sheoran clinch gold medals in women's events

Shriyanka Sadangi has bagged a gold medal in the senior women’s 10m air rifle category at the ongoing Kumar Surendra Singh Shooting Competition at Dr. Karni Singh Range, Delhi. In the women's sports pistol category, Gauri Sheoran won the final by beating Annu Raj Singh on Sunday.

Sadangi was the surprise package in the final of the women’s air rifle event among the senior shooters as she defeated Aayushi Gupta by 0.7 to win the gold. Mehuli Ghosh had finished top during the qualifying round but she could manage only a bronze medal in the event. Other top shooters of India Shreya Agrawal, Aditi Shukla, Ayoika Paul, Shakti Chandra and Meenakshi had also made it to the final round.

However, leaving aside the disappointment, Ghosh went on to capture the gold medal in the junior category of the same event. Aakriti Dahiya and Shreya Agrawal finished second and third respectively while Manini Kaushik was placed fourth.

In a thrilling final of the women’s sports pistol event, Sheoran got the better of Olympian Annu Raj Singh 29-28. The World University champion Sheoran had also topped the qualification round with 577 points. Abhidnya Patil settled with a bronze medal ahead of Chinki Yadav who finished fourth in the final round.

Abhidhnya also won the final in the junior category of the same event by beating Sneha Bhardwaj 28-26. Arunima Gaur finished third in the junior category of the sports pistol event.
