Rupinder Pal Singh is of the opinion that Graham Reid follows the coaching approach of Australian hockey coach Ric Charlesworth who was also the technical advisor of Hockey India. Rupinder also spoke about the positives from the Belgium tour where the Indian team didn’t lose a single game.

Graham Reid took over as the head coach of the Indian men’s hockey team in April this year and his main objective is taking the team into the Olympics in 2020. Reid had worked under Australian hockey coach Ric Charlesworth when he was the assistant to the latter with the Kookaburras. Charlesworth had a brief stint with Hockey India as its technical adviser as well and Indian defender Rupinder Pal Singh is of the opinion that Reid follows the approach which was used by Charlesworth.

"The big plus point with Graham as coach is that he has worked with Ric Charlesworth, and follows his approach, the mentality, the way Charlesworth used to work," Rupinder told TOI.

One of the senior members in Indian hockey, Rupinder Pal made a comeback into the Indian team and was a part of the squad that came back unbeaten after a tour to Belgium. India defeated Belgium on three occasions and also got the better of Spain thrice in the tour. The experienced drag-flicker opined that the success in penalty corner conversion was one of the highlights of the tour.

"I made a comeback after a long time, performance-wise it went well. Automatically, as you play more after your comeback, you grow in confidence," the Punjab-born defender explained.

"This tour was very good in terms of results on penalty corners. Apart from the first game, I think we had almost 100 percent success rate on penalty corners in the other four matches, especially against Spain. We missed very little in terms of penalty corners."
