Mistakes are often made on the cricket field by the players but it's rare for the umpires to make blunders in crucial games. Such was the scene in the Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans clash where a poor umpiring decision lead to skipper Shubman Gill arguing with the on-field umpire.
The Rajasthan Royals faced a rocky start losing their opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler in the powerplay. Despite this setback, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag steadied the innings propelling the team to 43/2 by the end of the powerplay. Their partnership flourished guiding the side to 73/2 after 10 overs. Parag reached a fifty from just 34 deliveries bolstering the score to 134/2 alongside the Rajasthan skipper after a robust partnership of 92 runs. However, the game encountered a halt in the 17th over due to umpiring confusion, triggering frustration from the Gujarat skipper.
During Mohit Sharma's delivery on the last ball of the 17th over, an umpiring error occurred when Vinod Seshan signalled a wide prompting an immediate challenge from Gill. As the players awaited the third umpire's decision, chaos ensued. Initially ruling it as a fair delivery, the third umpire K Ananthapadmanabhan swiftly corrected himself to declare it wide, assuming the on-field umpire had already indicated so. Gill's dissatisfaction was evident as he confronted Seshan about the decision.
