Lucknow Super Giants defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 28 runs in Bengaluru, earning their second win in three games. RCB fell prey to Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran's mayhem coupled with Mayank Yadav’s three-fer, incurring their third loss in four games with two defeats in home games.

Brief Scores: LSG: 181/2 [de Kock: 81, Pooran: 40*; Maxwell: 4-0-23-2] beat RCB: 153 [Lomror: 33, Patidar: 29; Mayank: 4-0-14-3] by 28 runs.

Playing their third straight home game, Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and elected to field first. Openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul gave a flying start before the latter was outdone by Glenn Maxwell to end a 53-run first wicket stand in the sixth over. RCB bowlers slowed down the run rate for the next four overs with Devdutt Padikkal struggling to get going, eventually falling to Siraj. Subsequently, Marcus Stoinis entered the fray and joined de Kock in the assault, adding 56 runs for the third wicket before Maxwell outfoxed his Melbourne Stars’ partner in the 14th over. 17 balls later, de Kock’s 56-ball 81 blitzkrieg came to an end with Ayush Badoni following him back to the pavilion. Just when RCB was in a position to pull things back, Nicholas Pooran’s 21-ball 40 including five sixes propelled the visitors to 181/5.

Unlike their counterparts, RCB got a brisk start of 40 runs before Manimaran Sidharth induced a leading edge catch off Virat Kohli in the fifth over. Devdutt Padikkal enforced a brilliant direct hit in the following over to remove Faf du Plessis with Glenn Maxwell departing in the same over, summing up a 48-run powerplay. Soon after, Cameron Green fell prey to a Mayank Yadav jaffa, leaving RCB languishing at 58/4 in eight overs. Anuj Rawat and Rajat Patidar tried to stabilize the ship by consolidating 36 runs in the next 31 balls before the former fell cheaply in the 13th over. Patidar followed suit in a space of nine balls before Mahipal Lomror smashed a couple of fours and sixes to help RCB reach 123/6 in 16 overs. However, the attack did not last long as Dinesh Karthik, Lomror, and Mayank Dagar fell in a span of two overs. Although Mohammed Siraj and Reece Topley took the chase till the last over with the former hitting couple of sixes, LSG bowlers bundled them 28 runs short in the end.
