Olympian KT Irfan missed out on a bronze medal at the ongoing 7th Military World Games in Wuhan, China after finishing fourth in the 20 km race walk event on Friday by clocking 1:25:09s. Irfan holds the national record for the 20 km race walk event which he made at the 2012 London Olympics.

Olympian KT Irfan missed out on a bronze medal at the ongoing 7th Military World Games in Wuhan, China after finishing fourth in the 20km race walk event on Friday. The 29-year-old clocked 1:25:09 seconds to finish the race at the fourth spot.

China’s Xu Hao claimed the gold medal with a timing of 1:22:18 seconds while the silver was earned by Ukraine’s Shumik Victor (1:23:18s) and the bronze medal went to and Slovakia’s Uradnik Miroslav (1:24:16s).

Irfan, who registered a personal best of 1:20:21s during his 10th place finish in 2012 London Olympics, also holds the national record with that timing. He has already qualified for next year’s Tokyo Summer Games after finishing fourth in the 20 km event of the Asian Race Walking Championships in Nomi, Japan, in March. The Kerala athlete had clocked 1 hour 20 minutes and 57 seconds to better the Tokyo Olympics qualification standard of 1 hour 21 minutes by a mere three seconds.
