Indian athlete PU Chitra has bagged a gold medal in the women's 1500m race at the Folksam Grand Prix in Sollentuna, Sweden on Tuesday. On the other hand, Jinson Johnson managed to finish second in the men’s 1500m race after failing to overtake local athlete Andreas Almgren in the final.

India’s top athlete in 1500m race PU Chitra got the better of Commonwealth Games champion from Kenya Mercy Cherono in the final to claim the gold medal in the event in Sweden. She clocked her season-best timing of 4:12.65s in Sollentuna and finished as the winner of the prestigious competition as well.

In the men’s category for the same distance, India’s Jinson Johnson failed to get the gold medal by a whisker. He clocked 3:39.69s and finished behind local favourite Andreas Almgren (3:39.68s) who managed to win the gold medal.
